In de korte film ‘Waarom Pools leren in Nederland een goed idee is!’ geven verschillende Nederlanders vijf redenen om Pools te leren. Zo komt de opkomende Poolse economie aan de orde, maar ook de mogelijkheden die Polen te bieden heeft als vakantieland, of de schoonheid van de Poolse literatuur. Vanuit mijn achtergrond vertel ik kort iets over de eeuwenoude banden tussen Nederland en Polen.
De film is gemaakt door de Stichting Pools Centrum voor Onderwijs en Cultuur ‘Lokomotywa’ te Amsterdam en is hier te bekijken.
On the 21st and 22nd of February 2019, researchers from both the Netherlands and abroad took part in a conference entitled ‘Foreign Eyes on the Republic: European Perspectives on the Republic and the Dutch in the Long Eighteenth Century’, organised by Alan Moss and myself at Radboud University in Nijmegen. The conference was funded by the Dutch-Belgian Society of Eighteenth-Century Studies and aimed to consider various perspectives of foreigners on the Dutch Republic during the long eighteenth century.
